2. Vehicles Offered
Atiu’s car rental companies have quite a limited offering of vehicle types, but are all suitable for the island’s small network of roads. Atiu Villa‘s vehicles are best suited for couples and small families, while Super Brown offers larger vehicles.
3. Size of Fleet
Atiu Villas has a very small fleet of vehicles, which is primarily available for their own guests. Super Brown has a much larger fleet, which makes them more reliable for picking up a vehicle when needed.
4. Service
Once you have selected one or two car rental companies to compare, contact them via email or phone and ask them a few questions. See how helpful they are in their answers. This little test will give you an idea of how helpful the company will be should anything go wrong during your trip.

Vehicles offered by Super Brown include Daelim and automatic scooters, jeeps and mini-trucks. There is a mix of automatic and manual transmissions available, so be sure to ask if you prefer one over the other.

Prices are subject to change. Cars with Super Brown cost approximately NZ$60 per day and scooters NZ$30 per day.

Atiu’s most convenient accommodation, Atiu Villas strives to provide everything you need for an effortless stay on the island including a rental car. They have one 4WD jeep-style vehicle that is ideal for Atiu’s roads. Should you only need it to pop into town, the vehicle is available by the hour if available. Gas is included in the cost of short-term vehicle rentals.

Prices are subject to change. Atiu Villas offers a few straightforward and budget-friendly transport options directly from the property. Guests can hire bicycles for NZ$10, scooters for NZ$30, or rent a Suzuki Jimny (with free fuel included) or an electric ute for NZ$60 per 24-hour period.
Note that both scooters and the car are available to hire by the hour, should you only need them for one or two short trips on Atiu (for instance, if you are taking mostly guided tours where accommodation pick-up is included).
